Tundra animals interesting facts. The building of such developments often disturbs the sensitive nature of the environment. Every animal must adapt in order to survive. This surface supports a meagre but unique variety of animals.
Tundra swans in different regions have slightly different appearances. Animals in the tundra are also adapted to extreme conditions and they take advantage of the temporary explosion of plant and insect life in the short growing season. These animals feed mostly off of the fat of seals leaving excess for other animals.
Facts about the Tundra Biome. Tundras cover a fifth of the Earths surface. Its feathers are white though sometimes its head and neck feathers become slightly red if it is in an area of iron-rich food.
Tundra is a vast permafrost plain which is predominantly characterized by the absence of trees. The region is cold dry and windy. Even though the Tundra is known to have harsh weather there are still a number of species living on the land.
Most tundra is around the Arctic Circle but there is also tundra near Antarctica and on high mountains. The Tundra is the worlds youngest biome. The conditions are so harsh that few animals live in the tundra all year.
But sadly this particular biomes animals are quickly dying off from the melting snow from global warming or just humans killing either from weapons or pollution. There are many plants and animals in a tundra biome. It has black legs feet and beak and close to its eyes there is a distinctive yellow mark.
